Ms. Josette Farrugia is a Senior Lecturer in science education and former Head of the Department of Mathematics and Science Education within the Faculty of Education of the University of Malta. She started her career as a chemistry teacher, has taught at secondary and post-secondary levels and has also worked as Principal Subject Area Officer for Science within the MATSEC Examinations Board before joining the Faculty of Education on a full-time basis. Her research interests and teaching areas in science education include pedagogy, assessment and curriculum; problem-solving and inquiry based learning; teachers’ beliefs and professional development. She is involved in initial teacher education for secondary school science teachers and also teaches and tutors on a number of post-graduate programmes. She has participated in a number of European projects aimed at improving science education in Europe and is the University of Malta’s representative in the International Consortium for STEM Education.
Dr. Mark Antony Joseph de Boer is an Assistant Professor at Akita International University in Japan and is a co-editor of the volume Assessment and learning in content and language integrated learning (CLIL) classrooms: Approaches and conceptualisations. He has a background in biochemistry, but obtained his MA in TESOL from Birmingham University, U.K. after moving to Japan. He is a Ph.D. candidate at the Universidad de Jaén, Spain and his thesis examines the teacher’s orchestration of the CLIL classroom in higher education to make the students’ learning visible. He has published articles and given talks on teacher training and praxis, assessment, cognitive discourse functions (CDFs), CLIL in higher education, and his current research is on Legitimation Code Theory and semantic waves in CLIL classrooms. He is also involved with various CLIL and CEFR research groups in Europe.
Dr. Roger Zoorob, M.D., MPH, FAAFP, has served as the Richard M. Kleberg, Sr. Professor and Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine for the past ten years. Dr. Zoorob is board-certified in family medicine, with over 25 years of experience in leadership in clinical practice, research, and teaching. Dr. Zoorob oversees the Center for Prevention and Population Health Research at Baylor. He has led multiple federally and statefunded grants and has authored over 180 publications and book chapters, and presented his work nationally and internationally.
Dr. Maria Katsipataki (BA, MSc, PhD), is a Research Associate at the Durham University, School of Education, UK. She is involved in the development and updating of the Sutton Trust Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) Teaching and Learning Toolkit. The Toolkit is a summary of educational research that provides guidance to educators on how to use their resources to improve outcomes for learners. Her research interests focus on the use of evidence-based research in education to support policy and practice. In addition, she is also interested in the fields of developmental psychology and learning difficulties.
Maria has also been awarded the Inspiration for Government award for her work on the Toolkit.
Prof. Newman Wadesango is a distinguished academic with a PhD in Administration, Planning, and Policy Studies. Currently serving as a Senior Academic Development Consultant and researcher at the University of Limpopo in South Africa, he specializes in multidisciplinary research. As the Chief Editor of the IBSS-accredited journal “African Perspectives of Research in Teaching and Learning,” Prof. Wadesango is dedicated to enhancing educational discourse. His exceptional contributions to academia have been recognized with the Best-Established Overall Researcher award at the University of Limpopo, an honor he has received twice, in 2019 and 2022.
Dr. Jan MacLean is a Senior Lecturer in the Fields of Literacy and Art Education with the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters on the topics of “Inclusion through the Arts”. As well she has also presented her research throughout North America, Europe, and Asia and has been awarded “International Scholar of the Year” by Shanghai Normal University. Current research focuses on exploring ways that engagement with reflective writing and art can encourage students to more fully develop a sense of caring towards themselves, others, and the environment.
Dr. Kalsoom Jaffar is a Lecturer in the Accounting and Finance Department at the University of Edinburgh. Her research focuses on Banking, Finance, and Education, with a particular emphasis on performance analysis and financial fragility. Throughout her career, she has taught both undergraduate and postgraduate courses on corporate finance, investment, and research methods. Currently, she serves as the Head of Joint Undergraduate Programmes at Edinburgh Business School.
Mr. Tuna Şahsuvaroğlu is a master’s degree Psychological Counselor and a licensed couple and family therapist trained at the Virginia Satir Institute of Human Development and Family Therapy in Turkey. He has served as a lecturer in the Department of Special Education at the Atatürk Faculty of Education, Marmara University since 2001.
Mr. Şahsuvaroğlu continues to engage in clinical and academic research focusing on the assessment of developmental milestones in children and adolescents, evaluating intelligence, attention, and learning potential. His professional interests encompass special education, psychological counseling and guidance for individuals with neurodiversity and disadvantaged groups, rehabilitation counseling, family therapies, and promoting inclusiveness and integration in education.
Ms. Sohni Siddiqui is an educator with over 18 years of experience in teaching and training, having worked with students in Pakistan, the U.A.E. and the U.K. In addition to being an author, she serves as an external reviewer for several national and international educational journals. She is a guest associate editor for Frontiers in Education and editor-in-chief of an IGI Global book project. Ms. Siddiqui has received several scholarships from Pakistan and Germany and is currently an external researcher at the Department of Educational Psychology at the Technical University of Berlin, focusing on the development and implementation of anti-bullying interventions for teacher professional development.
MSC Maria Hatzikyrkou is a secondary education teacher specializing in educational robotics and the application of gamification techniques in education. She is a graduate of the Department of Philosophy and Pedagogy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with postgraduate studies in the Philosophy of Science and in the Management and Organization of Educational Units, specializing in digital technologies. Currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, she is working on a PhD titled ‘The Teaching of Robotics and New Technologies through a New Approach: Gamification as a Tool to Enhance Discovery Learning.’” She has many years of experience in the field of education, teaching a variety of topics related to technology and education at universities. She has published over 15 scientific papers in conferences and peer-reviewed journals and has participated in at least five research projects. Finally, she has authored two academic books: Teaching New Technologies and Educational Robotics.
